WORK EXPERIENCE

Columbia University, Earth & Environmental Engineering Department, NY, NY, Aug – Dec 2020

Research Consultant for Sustainable Mining & Materials Curriculum Preparation

  • Assisted Professors D.R. Nagaraj and Raymond Farinato in development of lecture materials for graduate-level core course: EAEE E4200 – Introduction to Sustainable Production of Earth Mineral & Metal Resources.

  • Researched online and print references to create PowerPoint lecture slides to be used in the course lectures.

RPMGlobal, Denver, CO, Jul – Aug 2019

Student Vocation Program: Undergraduate Mining Engineer

  • Developed jumbo crew flow process in Arena simulation software to account for productivity, interactions and delays with underground unit operations, used to quantitatively assess ability of planned production.

  • Optimized production within flow process and improved efficiency in underground blasting procedures.

Cytec-Solvay Group, Stamford, CT, Jun – Aug 2018

Mining R&I Intern

  • Performance testing of collecting and depressing abilities of synthetic, water-soluble polyacrylamides in differential copper-molybdenum sulfide flotation.

  • Determined optimal reagents as potential replacements to traditional, inorganic flotation reagents which pose significant HSE concerns.

RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Mining Engineering Senior Evaluation Capstone Project: Morenci Expansion Project, Aug 2019 – May 2020

  • NI-43-101 stylized senior design project focusing on feasibility analysis for fictionalized expansion of Morenci operations in Arizona.

  • Objective was to gain experience in the feasibility and evaluation aspects of mineral resource operations development.

Mines Undergraduate Research Fellowship: Virtual Reality Development for the Mining Industry, Aug 2018 – May 2020

  • Researched developing virtual reality (VR) for Edgar Mine to help with decision making and design in the mining industry.

  • Incorporation of CAD models, animations, and DEM terains into Oculus Rift-based virtual environment.

  • Used to improve mine processes, productivity, personnel safety, and reduce equipment maintenance costs.

The science and art of mineralogy has captivated me from a young age. My passion to uncover the properties, development, and significance of minerals has driven me to pursue a mining industry career. I graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 2020 with a B.S. in Mining Engineering, and am currently pursuing a M.S. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the Kroll Institute for Extractive Metallurgy. I have had industry/research experience in mineral processing, virtual reality development, and simulation/optimization based software. My current interests are in applied mineral separations, flotation chemistry, process mineralogy and geometallurgy to effectively characterize and beneficiate complex mineral deposits, and in promoting collaboration between the geological, mining, and metallurgical disciplines to optimize ore and waste production. I am dedicated to developing methods of sustainable mineral resource recovery that are socially, economically, and environmentally sound.
